Nixcavating Celebrates 30 Years of Serving Longmont!

Nixcavating Inc., a family-owned construction company based in Longmont, celebrates its 30th anniversary in business. Founded by Scott Nix in November 1982, through the years the company has operated from four different locations in Longmont, including Scott’s home garage. In 1995, it found its permanent home at 1821 Boston Avenue in Longmont Colorado.

Nixcavating specializes in underground utility, excavation, site preparation, demolition, and irrigation services in Longmont and all along the Colorado Front Range. As a flexible small business, they cater to residential commercial, and municipal clients while upholding their philosophy of treating clients with respect, confidence, and integrity. The family-operated business averages around 25 full-time employees, including Scott’s two kids, Sara and Brady.

Being a supporting member of the community is a priority to Scott Nix. Through Nixcavating, he actively supports various local non-profit organizations, including the St. Vrain Valley Habitat for Humanity, the Skyline Kiwanis Club, Boy Scouts of America, the Boulder County Fair, A Woman’s Work, Snow Care for Troops, and many local baseball teams. Scott Nix has also dedicated himself to personal community involvement. He served on the Longmont Transportation Advisory Board from 1986 to 1992, ran for Boulder County Commissioner in 1996, served on the Habitat for Humanity Board from 1995 to 2005, was named Realtors Citizen of the Year in 2002, and received the Col. Dan Straight Distinguished Citizen Award from the Longs Peak Council Boy Scouts of America in 2011.

Reflecting on Nixcavating’s longevity, Scott Nix expresses gratitude for customers and employees, both past and present, who have contributed to this milestone. He acknowledges the hard work, sacrifices, and faith that have shaped the company’s journey. Scott Nix says “It’s a privilege to still be in business when so many other great companies haven’t made it. There’s been a lot of hard work and sacrifices, and I can say my faith was tested, but it was also renewed. Thank you to all our customers and employees – past and present – who’ve helped make this milestone a possibility.”
